Ormeau True Blues L.O.L. 990 Very little is known about the origins of this lodge, because of an unfortunateaccident when the records were destroyed by fire. What is known is that they were first raised in Pettigo, County Fernlanagh, in 1829 under a warrant issued to their first Worshipful Master, Bro. John Coulter, residing in the same village, on 24 September of that year. Little else is known except that they were still domiciled in the same area in 1891 as part of the Pettigo District, comprising 19 lodges. At some stage after this the warrant became dormant and was reissued when the lodge was reconstituted as part of No. 10 District on 30 September 1899,:where it has remained ever since. Special mention should be made of the Elliott family, staunch supporters of the lodge, and W. Bro. Isaac McPeake, whose services in the District for many years as a lecturer were invaluable. Although not one of the strongest lodges in the district, and drawing theirmembership from a rather small area of Ballynafeigh, a great deal of credit is due to them for the fact that they continually manage an almost one hundred per cent turnout at all parades in the District. |
