The Fellowship of Patrick

Statement of Principles

 

The Fellowship of Patrick, hereafter referred to as the "Fellowship", is an association that seeks to promote and celebrate Saint Patrick, his character, message and legacy. Membership is open to all who are in agreement with the stated aims and objectives of the Fellowship. This constitution is in effect the set of procedures, which will govern the management of the Fellowship.

The Fellowship shall constitute as an unincorporated members' association. The business of the Fellowship is to be conducted for the benefit of the community which the Fellowship serves and not for the private financial profit or otherwise of the Fellowship's members.

In keeping with its philosophy the Fellowship, when possible, will co-operate with other organisations, at local, national and international level who share the objects of the Fellowship.

A copy of the Fellowship's constitution, approved at its first meeting on Friday 14th March 2003, is available on request.


1. Objects

The operating principles of the Fellowship are founded on the philosophy of co-operation with like-minded bodies and individuals. Specifically, the objects of the Fellowship are as follows:

a. To promote the celebration of Saint Patrick;

b. To promote the message Patrick preached as identified in his writings;

c. To raise the profile of Patrick's legacy within the community;

d. To encounter other groups and organisation who wish to debate or learn more
about Patrick's legacy to the people of our Province; and

e. To make available information about Patrick through publication.


2. Governance

a. The day-to-day management of the Fellowship will be entrusted to a Steering
Committee, which shall meet quarterly or more frequently if the need should
arise.

b. The officers of the Steering Committee who will be five in number will be; The
Chair, two Vice-Chairs, the Secretary, and the Treasurer;

c. Other officers may be appointed by the Steering Committee as and when the
need arises; and

d. The members of the Steering Committee will be elected annually.


3. How the Fellowship Works

The objective of the Fellowship is to act as a collective voice on behalf of all of its members. How is this achieved in practice?

a. The Fellowship will hold at least two key events per year that will be open to
the wider public;

b. Four quarterly planning meetings of the Steering Committee will be held
annually;

c. The Fellowship will seek to accept any engagement received that meets with
the core objectives of the Fellowship;

d. An annual meeting will be held in February to provide a review of the previous
years work and to outline plans for the following twelve months activities.
