Junior LOL 139

Dr. Robert Henry Memorial

The Junior Association of Orange Lodges is one of the fastest growing movements throughout Northern Ireland. It caters for both boys and girls between the ages of 7 to 16. A senior lodge within a District usually manages them.
Comber juniors was initiated on the 16th August 1939 by Comber District No. 15, and operated successfully for nearly fifty years. The lodge ceased operating in 1985 due to lack of membership. However, owing to resurgence and a new-found interest, the junior lodge was re-instituted on the same date it first originated, 16th August, 1991.

It now operates usually under the supervision of senior Orangemen from Comber Ulster Defenders LOL 100 although quite a few Brethren from the other lodges in the town have served the junior lodge well in the past. A number of activities are arranged throughtout the year, including visits to other junior lodges, Bible quizzes, five-a-side football competitions and annual excursions.

The banner of Dr. Robert Henry Memorial Junior LOL 139, top left, depicts the biblical scene of the baby Moses in a basket. There is a previous banner, shown middle left, which is held in trust by Dr. Ian Henry, grandson of Dr. Robert Henry.
