| Orange Military History
The top document is the warrant for the military Orange Lodge in the Toronto Scottish Regiment during World War Two. The bottom document is a membership certificate for the military Orange Lodge that existed in the Mississauga Regiment during World War One. The Worshipful Master of both lodges was Elias 'Cy' Grey of Toronto, making him the only man ever to hold membership in Military Orange Lodges during both World Wars. Elias Grey later became the County Master of Toronto and in the 1950's he served as the Grand Master of the Grand Orange Lodge of Ontario West.
The member on the certificate of membership is J.E. Beasley of Toronto who went overseas with the 75th Battalion. His first taste of action was in Ireland where he was put into the Irish Fusiliers and spent fourteen days in Dublin during the Easter Rebellion. He was wounded in France in 1916. His father was a sergeant-major in the 204th Battalion, and two of his uncles served in the 16th Bedfordshires and the 126th Battalion.
