Qualifications for Membership of the Royal Black
Institution
Personal Faith A Black Sir Knight should have a sincere love for God as his Heavenly Father and for Jesus Christ, His Son, the Saviour of the world, the only Mediator between God and man. Duty to the Institution As a member of the Institution he should seek to encourage in his own life and in that of other Sir Knights, harmony and unity, brotherly kindness and compassion, gentleness and courtesy and obedience to its laws. Family Responsibilities He should study and obey the Holy Scriptures, making them the guide for its faith and practice, remember the Sabbath Day to keep it Holy, regularly attend the public worship of God, participate fully in the life and witness of his Church and seek to encourage such in the life of his family. The Reformed Faith He should love, uphold and defend the Reformed Faith. While rejecting and opposing the erroneous doctrines of the Church of Rome, he should speak the truth in love, abstaining from all uncharitableness towards Roman Catholics. Personal Conduct Avoiding all that is indecent and irreligious, false and profane, he should be marked by devotion and piety, honesty and justice, temperance and sobriety and in all things; his personal conduct should be such that it brings honour to God. |
